The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee says it is placing advertisements in gas stations this weekend in Florida to rip Republican Rep. Vern Buchanan over allegations of fundraising misdeeds.

The advertisements accuse Buchanan, a Florida Republican, of “campaign finance schemes,” alluding to alleged straw donations from his car dealership, which he has denied. The allegations are a subject of ethics probes on Capitol Hill. Buchanan is a top fundraiser for House Republicans.

The DCCC declined to disclose how many advertisements it was placing. But the advertisement’s release did coincide with a visit by Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to Sarasota — Buchanan’s district — for a fundraiser.
